This new scholarship has been established to honour the legacy of the late Robyn Daw (1958-2022), well-respected artist, educator, writer and arts manager.
Generously funded by the Friend and Daw family, its objective is to reinforce Robyn Daw’s commitment to arts and cultural development in the City of Logan by supporting young artists whose practice draws on their cultural backgrounds.
Aims
The Scholarship aims to:
- support and promote the practice of young culturally diverse artists in the City of Logan through professional development, exhibition exposure and financial assistance
- recognise the diverse cultures that make up City of Logan
- contribute further to the health and vitality of arts and cultural activity in Logan.
Eligibility
The Scholarship is open to artists who:
- draw on their cultural background/s experiences as inspiration in the creation of a new work
- identify as residents of the City of Logan City and/or be able to outline their close connection to Logan
- are 18–35 years of age
- create an artwork in any form including, but not limited to, ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, glass, photography, video, multimedia, new technologies, performance and sound, suitable for exhibition in a public gallery.
Up to 8 applicants will be shortlisted to prepare work to exhibit at Logan Art Galley 23 May to 12 July 2025 and participate in a funded 4-day artist professional development and workshop program on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 February, Friday 28 February and Saturday 1 March 2025. A materials/artist fee of $425 will be paid to each shortlisted participant.
On completion of the program and exhibit installation, one participant will be awarded the Scholarship Fee of $7,000 and a further 2-hour session of private mentorship.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are encouraged to apply.
